Steve's Top 10 Favorite Trailers of All Time

Honorable mentions:

10.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
Thanks to this trailer, I discovered a hauntingly eerie Mortal Coil song called "Song to the Siren".

9.

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992)
Closest trailer that I could find...I actually preferred the teaser where suddenly Laura looked up at a flashing light. It looked cool because it left me curious about which Black Lodge inhabitant startled her like that.

8.

Snake Eyes (1998)
One of many cases where the movie failed to live up to its trailer. These clips of a De Palma, Rahomon-like movie sure raised my expectations.

7.

The House of the Dead (2003)
This trailer convinced me to see one of the worst movies ever made, so the editors who spliced it definately earned their paychecks.

6.

Death Sentence (2007)
Goes to show how John Murphy's "In a Heartbeat" can really intensify an action montage. Disappointing movie, BTW.

5.

Independence Day (1996)
The trailers for this movie blew me away. Nowadays the scenes pale in comparison to the 9/11 images, but at the time I couldn't wait to see this blockbuster.

4.

Sunshine (2007)
I felt that the trailer actually captured the spirit of this movie pretty well. Compelled me to drive all the way to San Francisco to catch a limited release. You might recognize the music in this trailer as "Lux Aeterna" by Clint Mansell.

3.

Run Lola Run (1998)
I remember seeing this trailer right before "The Blair Witch Project". Had no clue what the clips meant, but they certainly intrigued me and my brother.

2.

Ju-On: The Grudge (2003)
Even the trailer to this movie scared me. The red MPAA screen also stood out--almost as if the curse had bloodied the normal green MPAA screen.

1.

Memento (2001)
Didn't see this trailer until I bought the "Memento" DVD. I felt that it represented the theme of the movie perfectly without giving anything away.
